“An Act of War"
On
September 11, 2001 four passenger jets departed within 42 minutes of one
another from three East Coast airports. The planes were transformed into
flying bombs. America Airlines flight 77 was hijacked in the morning of
September 11, 2001 and crashed into the pentagon building, the nations
central military headquarters and two planes pierced the twin towers and
they collapsed. The crash killed about 260
people in the 4 planes, about 120 pepole in the Pentagon and 3,000 people
died in the World Trade Center Towers. The
passengers took control back from the hijackers witch is believed their
destination to be the White House. Many people died that fateful
day and will always be remembered.
Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani had this to say, “The attack was intended to
break our spirit. It has utterly failed. Our hearts are broken, but
they continue to beat, and the spirit of our city has never been stronger.”
“We have met the worst of humanity with the best of humanity.”
