Mrs. Thomas is our Computer teacher. We have been in her class for three years now. This is her last year in our school. Since she came to the school she has taught us a lot of new stuff. First we didn't even know how to type, but now we learned MSWord, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher, and HTML.

Briefly about Mrs. Thomas: My name is Mrs. Diana Thomas. I came to TIS four years ago as the computer coordinator. My husband and I have lived overseas for 20 years. Some of the countries we worked in are Liberia, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, and Laos. I have been working with computers since the very beginning. I did punch cards, wired boards, and was around when the internet was only text. I have seen the technology area grow and become a very positive part of schools.

Briefly about where Mrs. Thomas is from: I was born in Illinois in the United States of America. When I was a child my family moved to Arizona. Arizona is a desert much like Uzbekistan so I feel right at home here in Tashkent. Arizona is a high desert with mountains. Our temperature range is from freezing in the mountains to 110 degrees in the desert.

Mrs. Thomas's thoughts about ThinkQuest and her team: This is the first year TIS has participated in ThinkQuest. I went to a ThinkQuest conference two years ago and was impressed. This year our class wanted to do a different competition. The students had participated in other competitions, but they thought this one looked really interesting. We had done a trip to the Aral sea and saw the problems it had created for the economy of Uzbekistan. Our students Anam, Tonay, Su Yee, Muhiddin and Akmal all come from different countries except for Mudiddin and Akmal. They were born in Uzbekistan. Anam comes from Pakistan, Su Yee from Korea and Tonay from the United States. These are two girls and three boys who really work together well. They collaborate in each of their strengths. Tonay likes to research and likes computers. Su Yee is the organizer and proofreader who make sure things come together. Anam is the quiet one who doesn't really say too much but gets her work done very efficiently. Mudhiddin and Akmal like to do Photo Shop and the HTML part of the project. They also are a good source for us as they are from Uzbekistan.
