it down and made the days longer on the island of Maui |

Menehune-Menehune are good fairies.
They are Impish mythical figures and are the Hawaiian cousins
of the leprechauns in Ireland. It is said that these fairies
did great deeds overnight such as digging fishponds. |

Poliahu-The goddess of the snowy Mauna
Kea. She made snow and is an enemy to Pele. |

Kamohoali'i-The keeper of life
and a respected elder brother. He could take the form of a great
shark such as when he lead Pele to Hawaii. |

Lonomakua-The keeper of sacred
fire sticks and used them to make volcanic fires at Pele's command. |

Kapohoikahiola-The spirit of
explosions. |

Kanehekili-The spirit of thunder. |

Akua-Akua was the real god
who created everything. He also kept everything working. |

Haumea-Haumea was a daughter
to Papa which was a fertility goddess. She is also the mother
of Pele[female volcano] and Hi'iaka[ hula dancer]. haumea even
taught women how to give birth properly. She was very wise and
brave. |
